Question

Samsung Smart TV unable to connect to internet (suddenly)

Feb 23, 2015 10:45PM PST

I have a Samsung smart TV (40 inch) unsure of the model number as i am at work. It has a wired connection to my BT Infinity router, up until this morning it was working fine when accessing the smart hub, Netflix etc. This morning when accessing smart hub the TV said that it could not connect to the internet, I ran a test, TV said cable to router fine, but no internet. WIFI on all other devices is working ok. I have reset the router, disconnected tv from the mains, swapped the ASDL filter for a new one and changed all cabling (wall-router/router-tv). The TV is still giving me the same error message. I'm unsure of the next step, any help would be appreciated.

If you brick the TV you may be very upset at what it costs to fix. All makers seem to void the warranty if this happens.

Answer
sometimes it happens...
Aug 14, 2015 6:14PM PDT

yes, I see this random problem too - try this:

I connect wireless to my F-7100 TV/BD-F6500 and if this happens I log into your router and change the (wireless) SSID to something else - then have your devices reconnect to the router and things should work from there again.

No idea why this is happening and especially since you can't reset TV's network settings at all.

SAME PROBLEM
Aug 24, 2015 10:10AM PDT

HELLO, I have got the same problem with my SMART TV. On Saturday the Internet was working fine on my TV. And now on Monday I get an error note that says it is not connected. The Internet is working fine on my laptop. So you are not alone. I read on this website that this sometimes happens at the SAMSUNG end and it will come back at some point.

I hope I have helped you.

Samsung Smart TV unable to Connect to Internet
Oct 11, 2015 2:21PM PDT

I called the Samsung Technical Support in this number ((800) 726-7864) and he resolved my issues - thanks to the support person.

Basically they have some issue with SmartHub in US. So we have to erase the existing setup and reinstall again.

Here are the Steps he walked thru with me :

1. You need to have original Samsung Remote
2. You cannot do this with any SmartPhone tv remotes
3. Once you have the Samsung TV Remote - Click Smart Hub
4. Stay in that Screen, don't go to any apps
5. The following keys you have to press one after the other quickly
Fast Farward - 2 8 9 - Rewind
6. If you do the above step you willget a prompt to change the Country Code
7. Select Australia and press OK
8. You will get a Service Agreement twice - say OK
9. This will erase US setup and install Australia Setup
10. Once it completes, repeat the same for US country code - by repeat step 5 onwards

My issue is resolved. Suppose if you guys have any issues let me know. All the Best!!!!

Update firmware.
Oct 11, 2015 6:43PM PDT

Happened to me today. All of a sudden, all the apps disappeared and smart hub won't connect to the internet, even though the TV is still connected. Tested the router, wires, switches, everything... Still nothing.
Tried to change DSN as suggested by some, did not work for me.
I can go into setup and see the ip is set corrected and it tested fine, but smart hub still won't work right. I can see my DLNA media servers but not the internet. Netflix, youtube, facebook, ect. ... all were gone.
Finally, I went to samsung.com/us/support/download, get to my TV (UN55D8000) and download the latest firmware version 1034. My TV was showing version 1032 and when I searched for an update, it told me there is no software update.
Anyway, I downloaded the firmware file. Unzip it to a USB drive. Plug it in the TV. Update via USB. Took a bit, but it installed and restored all my apps (netflix, youtube, facebook, twitter, pandora, etc.).
Took me a while to find this solution. Hope this helps someone.

Solved for my UN55D6050
Oct 11, 2015 9:48PM PDT

I had same issue this October 2015, none of the mentioned solutions worked (DNS 8.8.8.8, DNS 8.8.4.4, fwd 269 bkwd); so I had chat with Samsung support and problem was soved 5 minutes after.

my Samsung TV Model: UN55D6050
software version: T-GASAKUC-1023.2

Solution: Software upgrade to 1034.0

Downloaded from: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=US&CttFileID=6087519&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=C&ModelName=UN55D6050TFXZA&VPath=FM/201509/20150930171918152/T-GASAKUC.zip

steps:
1. Extract all content from zip file
2. copy the Image folder to empty USB drive
3. Plug USB on TV
4. On Tv: Menu --> Support --> Upgrade --> from USB --> Next

The tv will restart and apps internet access was restored.

I'm sure this will work for your tv if its the same model, otherwise contact Samsung support via chat.

It's clear to me the answers above. I'm only writing since you don't have to use the WiFi in the set. There are WiFi client things for about 20 bucks that IMO work better.

SmartHub defaults to wired conenction type
Nov 14, 2015 9:01PM PST

I use wi-fi to connect to my JU7000 model Samsung smart TV.
All has been fine for 2 months and then suddenly l couldn't connect to the smart hub.
Wi-fi connectivity is fine and tv says you are connected to the internet.
However, as soon as l open smarthub, l am presented with set up screen and the the connection type defaults to wired - which timeout and then fails. seem as though the wired connection is being reset every time the smarthub is opened and there is no option within the smarthub setup to set the connection type to wi-fi. Have tried reset, >>289<<. Other wi-fi devices in the house are working fine. On the smarthub diagnostics, all tests pass expect the last one which is Samsung apps panel "A problem occurred while updating the app or game information" [ERR071170]. Anyone have any advice as my smartv is now just a tv after only 2 months.

Beware of how many connections your router has...
Nov 27, 2015 4:48AM PST

I´m far for tech savvy so this might be the dumbest solution for some but for me was what did the trick...
I kept getting error messages, that the tv was connected to my network but couldn´t connect to internet. I tried all the solutions listed here and when none worked I contacted tech support and they said that my wifi plaque was damaged.
Then by chance I heard that routers can´t have more than 7 connections at once, and indeed in my house we have that amount of devices connected at the same time... so I shut down my tablet and tried again and voila! the tv connected to the internet it worked fine as always Happy

I was able to get my TV to work by disabling smart security within the TV settings. The router already has a firewall.
