Question

Samsung smart tv Internet connectivity

May 8, 2016 10:33PM PDT

I have a Samsung UA40F6400 smart tv, and I battle to get it to connect to my home wifi router. I can sit in the same room as my tv with my cellphone connected to the wifi router, and can easily connect to the internet. The stupid tv says that it is connected to the wifi, but cannot connect to the internet, and that I should contact my system administrator. I AM my system administrator (very irritating!) if I turn the tv off then on an again, then disconnect from the wifi router and reconnect, sometimes, I get a connection. Then when I open youtube for example, it says I am not connected to the internet, but my Blackberry is. So frustrated with this stupid set. Does anybody have a solution to this, or also experienced this?

Yes. Try using an ethernet cable

Spare yourself the headache of having to constantly deal with the wireless connection. The streaming features of this HDTV will perform better too.

Answer
These TVs have inferior WiFi

Figure the WiFi router has to be 20 feet or less away and line of sight. Then you get to try changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.1. This is well discussed but worth repeating that we can't use the fact our phone or laptop connects so the TV should.

Be sure the distance is 20 or less feet, your DNS is changed and the TV firmware is current.

Best wired!
