Question

Samsung Smart TV Frame Rate/Refresh Rate.

Apr 20, 2016 8:43AM PDT

Hey everybody.

I am a first time Smart TV owner, I picked up a 650 Series Samsung TV, 55", has lots of nice features that I'm still learning to use.

But it does have one quirk that is new to me and I don't know how to change it.

My previous TV was an LCD 42" that when watching Netflix played fine.

With this new television, it seems to have upped the frame rate when watching so that whole "action too quickly, weird blur, everyone moving too fast" thing is happening.

I believe this has to do with the Frames Per Second or Refresh Rate? Movies are often filmed in 24fps and at 32fps they look weird, like most USA Television shows look like these days?

It makes me sick to my stomach and gives me a headache watching it this way. Is this happening because of my TV, and can I change it somehow?

Or does it have to do with the Xbox/Roku/Apple TV's HDMI out capabilities compared to the HDMI input capabilities of the television?

Thanks for any help.

Clarification Request
Did you try turning off motion smoothing?

The full model number may be needed to be exact as to the menu item to use as well as if this is the Netflix from an app or the Xbox/Roku/Apple source. I have yet to see a TV with a HDMI out capability so that must be a typo.

Considerations.

The HDMI out is more of a testament to my newb status in the realm of television technology. I work in Audio production and everything is an I/O so I presumed HDMI worked the same way.

I do not know what Motion Smoothing is, but i will look for it in the menu and try turning it off. By logic I imagine it's a setting that smooths out lower frame rates, though?

I don't call 60 FPS low.

But any motion processing is what you look for. All the makers have the annoying habit of calling by other names so here's a pound of salt to ease the search.

Please try changing the Auto Motion Plus settings. This should be located in the Menu under system or in your picture portion of the menu under picture options.
