Samsung Smart TV External USB HDD Query

by headsh0t79 / November 20, 2014 1:36 AM PST

Hello,

I have recently purchased a Samsung UE48H6400 Smart TV. I very pleased with the product but after scouring the internet for answers I have a questions.

I have an external portable USB drive which the TV plays videos from but I am wondering if there is an option to manipulate files on the USB drive using the TV, specifically deleting from it?

Also I am thinking of purchasing a 3TB external USB drive. Would this be compatible with the TV?

Does anyone know? Thanks.

Almost no models write to the HDD so that's an easy no. It's something folk want, that is, they want a TV to be a PC. Sorry, no it doesn't seem to do that.

As to the 3TB question the usual add on drive is USB 3.0 which can be a problem. I've used short USB 2.0 extension cables to force it to USB 2.0. I have also limited the drive size with the drive maker's app to 1, 2 TB to make it with with Smart TVs. Why push the envelope here?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
