Question

Samsung smart tv doesn't play all videos from youtube

Mar 31, 2017 1:36PM PDT

When I send a music video from youtube in my computer to my Samsung's smart tv, it doesn't play it. The tv keeps restarting youtube many times. What can I do? It happens since I'm trying to do so with my new computer.

How are you doing it exactly?

Are you using a simple HDMI cable, or some sort of casting via wifi, etc.? Be more detailed in exactly how you are attempting it.

sending the command from my computer
Apr 2, 2017 3:35PM PDT

I open first the app on my smart tv. Then I open youtube in my computer and click the option play on tv.
At that moment the tv app goes crazy and restarts as many times as I try to make it work.
It doesn't happen If I do the same from my old computer on Windows XP.

Lots of folk get upset over XP, here I don't expect it to work. When it does I say "Yeah!"

Google just updated YouTube
Mar 31, 2017 1:48PM PDT

I saw an update last week.

This area is a tough one as Google zigs and Samsung needs to update firmware. So what to do? Call it in and have Samsung (1800SAMSUNG here) check the firmware is latest and answer when they expect a fix. Sometimes it is never and the YouTube app is pulled.

You may be experiencing something you don't have control over. Because of the way you are using the service you may be experiencing a bug that is created when you send videos to the TV that are not allowed to be played on HDTV. Not everyone is aware that content from premium services, like VeVo or Red, can be restricted to only play on mobile devices. If you're watching it on a tablet or PC, then send it to the TV, it may not always play.
