Question

Samsung Series 500 TV and Insignia sound bar not working

Nov 21, 2012 9:40PM PST

TV is connected to sound bar by digital optical cable, but it will not work. I can make sound bar work when connecting to other devices via RCA cables. The instructions say to change my device (tv) output to PCM format, but I've searched through the tv menu and can find no option for doing this. The only audio options I see are for changing to "standard" "movie" "music" etc.

The manuals were very slim on the subject.

"If you want to hear 5.1 CH audio, connect the digital audio out jack from your
DVD / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB satellite receiver directly to an amplifier or home theater."

OK, I get that but the ONLY OTHER IDEA I could glean was to tap the MTS button on the remote. Beyond that, I'd call it in. 1800SAMSUNG in the USA.
