samsung series 5 C530 cannot detect digital channels

by carlo_santos / July 5, 2010 12:19 AM PDT

I bought a series 5 C530 samsung lcd tv yesterday in Vietnam. My old tv can detect hbo, cinemax and other channels and has been working ok for 4 years. When they connected the samsung tv and performed auto scan or search it doesn't seem to detect those movie channels, instead, it only gets the local analogue channels. I already confirmed with the cable service provider that signal is ok. I also notice that when it is performing auto scan or search, the mode is "Analogue". My setting is set to "Asia". Are there any more settings I need to configure to change this setting or to be able to detect those channels.

carlo_santos,

Unfortunately, I'm only able to speak on U.S. products. The best route to find the answer to this inquiry would be to contact the Samsung customer service center in the region where the television was purchased. I just don't know how the broadcast system is set to work with the TV, and what options are available.

Good day. OK, fair enough. How do I toggle between detecting Analogue and Digital in the U.S. Series 5? Is it through the "Plug and Play" functionality? How do you toggle between "Air" and "Cable" in the said series? There must be some similarity between the Asia version. Sad Any clue would be much appreciated. Please?

carlo_santos,

Yes, it is through the Plug and Play. Analog and digital channels will be saved, and you can choose air, cable, or air+cable. I hope that helps initially. For the regional differences, local customer service would be your best bet.

You may need to contact your cable company to see which system they use. On the U.S. models, there is an option for HRC, STD, or IRC.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
