Question

Samsung series 450 display won't light up

Apr 30, 2018 7:46PM PDT

The standby light is lit up but the remote and tv switch are unresponsive. When plugged in the standby light blinks on and off several times and there is an audible clicking as the tv seems to be attempting to turn on several times the the standby light turns to a steady tone. Then nothing else can be done unless the tv is unplugged and plugged back in, then same routine. Tried unplugging all other devices and different power sources.

Clarification Request
Is this from 2010?

You didn't supply the full model number so given it may be a plasma these tend to be very expensive to repair. Why age matters in plasma is the high heat levels of these sets. Most techs use the service manual (see www.samsungparts.com) but some folk don't want to pay 12 bucks for the service manual. They are usually stuck for some time., Anyway here's the usual link to TV repair. Remember no TV techs seem to post on forums. They all get burned by folk demanding a diagnosis and flame the good people for "not getting the right board."

Now did you find the service manual, see if there are spare boards (the prior link and Shopjimmy,.com)?

Many want diagnosis on the web. For the reason given no seasoned TV techs answer today. I'm just an electronics engineer that has worked in a wide array of devices over the years. So my view is that if I want to fix a TV, I check for availability of service and parts before I decide to try. Did you?
