Samsung SC-D353, transferring video with date/time stamp

Jun 1, 2006 8:56AM PDT

The Samsung SC-D353 mini-DV camcorder allows one to record the date and time.

In ''playback mode'', the date and time can be displayed. However, in addition to the date and time, the following ''unwanted items'' are also displayed:

(1) tape direction indicator icon,
(2) tape speed indicator,
(3) tape counter,
(4) ''tape loaded'' icon,
(5) time (in minutes) remaining

This camcorder has a ''display'' button. Pressing this button will either display the 5 above-mentioned items plus the date and time, or remove all of these from the display.

My question - is there a way to only display the date and time, and not the unwanted, above-mentioned items?

When I connect the A/V camcorder output to a DVD recorder or computer (with a video capture card), ''unwanted items'' are also captured Sad

When I connect the IEEE1394 (firewire) camcorder output to a DVD recorder or computer (with a video capture card), the date and time are **not** captured Sad

How can I transfer the mini-DV tape to a DVD recorder or computer with just the date and time?

Is there a firmware update for the Samsung SC-D353 that allows one to just display the date and time by pressing the "display" button?

Thanks!
