I have not seen an in-depth review of the Samsung S850.
Here is an in-depth (10 page) review of the Canon A640:
It includes sample photos.
Samsung is rather new to the Camera world and Canon's middle name is camera.
I would prefer the Canon A640, even at $80 more.
If you want a lower price.....buy the A630.
It is the same camera and lens as the A640.
I currently own a Samsung Digimax U-CA 505, which has been fine, but I want to upgrade. I take lots of pictures, all types(indoors, outdoors, night, sports, etc) and I need one that will be able to produce the best quality at the lowest cost, with some more advanced features.
I've been looking around and I found 2 cameras that really caught my eye.
1. Samsung S850:
The thing that's most appealing about this camera that I found in the cnet review is "..four primary shooting modes ..that are found on most advanced cameras and don't often show up on a camera that costs less than $250." I'd really like to become advanced in my photography skills, but can't really afford to do so right now, so this camera seems perfect. I love the exposure meter too.
LOWEST PRICE: About $160
2. Canon PowerShot A640:
There are 2 things that I LOVE that this camera has that the Samsung doesn't have: You can purchase additional accessory lenses that give you more zoom, and the flip out screens! This is perfect because I feel like I need much more zoom than 4x, so I have that option when I want. And I take a lot of pictures at concerts and football games so the flip out screen will be perfect.
LOWEST PRICE: About $250.00
(Is it really worth the extra $80 for the A640, or is the 8mp that the A630 offers just as good?)
I read/watched the reviews for each camera, but I can't decide which is the best choice for me.
Here's where I'm concerned:
I'm mainly torn because I'd rather spend the least amount of money, and the reviewer for the Samsung seemed more impressed than the Canon.
But, I'M more impressed w/ the Canon's extras...So which one is TRUELY a 'better camera'?
Which will give me better pictures overall?
I take a lot of pictures in low light and also action(sports)--which of these would be best for that?
Are there any features in either camera that really stand out above the other? Are there any undesireable qualities?
Help me choose!(And please hurry because I need a new camera before football season which starts in almost a week!!!)
Thanks so much!!!!
