Or, ask your credit card issuer what sort of protection they can offer.
I bought a Samsung QN49Q60 4K TV less than 2 weeks ago. Shortly after hooking it up, horizontal and vertical lines appears on the picture and what looks like a crack on the inside of the screen formed. There was no physical damage or impact to the unit when I installed it. The TV is not mounted on the wall or was handled inappropriately in any way. I was careful not to touch the screen when hooking up the cables in the back. The only thing I can think of is that when I installed the coaxial cable, maybe this resulted in damage to the internal screen? Clearly the coaxial cable connection wasn’t seated properly if this is the cause. Samsung is refusing to honour the warranty on their defective product. I have spent hours on the phone and emailing customer service. They claim the damage is physical and not their problem. But I didn’t do anything to the TV, other than take it out of the box and hook it up. It never fell, leaned against anything or had any pressure applied on the screen during the install. Samsung has made a defective product, and is not willing to take responsibility for it. Their customer service has been atrocious. I had my last Sony TV for 13 years, and this new one for less than 2. I’m not buying a Samsung ever again.
Any advice how I can get a replacement from Samsung?
