Question

Samsung Q80R

Tv runs on by itself approx 4-5 minutes after being turned off. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Clarification Request
"runs on"?

Some smart TVs update when you turn them off. So I'm unsure what you are telling the forum here. Other than it runs for 5 minutes after your turn it off, it works fine? If so, call Samsung and ask them to explain. In the USA it's 1800SAMSUNG and for other countries look at samsung.com

Meant turns on

Sorry. Typo. 3-5 min after the tv had been turned off it will turn back on.

That is usually when the TV has an Internet connection and

It is checking for an update. You will have to think about how you want to tackle this one. I like to disable the smart TV bits and use a Roku or Amazon Fire stick or box.

There's also a chance that some HDMI CeC (what that is is one the web) is giving a command to turn on like a cable box or other. As a test to sniff out which area it may be, unplug the HDMI cables, turn it off and see if it powers up. If it doesn't then it's 99.99% sure it's a HDMI CeC issue. For that you dive into HDMI settings on the TV and the box that called for the power on.
