ok well I figured this out. I did not know when you plug something in HDMI1/DVI port on tv hat you have to go in and designate what device you have connected to it. I went into setup and selected Cable STB and now I have my cable box connected to HDMI1 on tv via a HDMI cable. I was thinking this port would only utilize a HDMI to DVI cable, but manual doesnt fully explain this. Now I can connect my dvd player or anything else to HDMI2 port on tv. Before all this when I had something plugged in HDMI1 it did not recognize it so that's where I had got somewhat confused. Glad this is resolved.
I just purchased model # PN43D450 which has 2 HDMI connections. 1 of those connections on tv (labeled HDMI1) is HDMI to DVI. Neither my cable box or any new dvd players on the market have DVI connections. What are my options for hooking up both these devices?? I currently have my cable box plugged into HDMI2 as that port is HDMI to HDMI. How can I hook up a dvd player to HDMI1 is the dvd player only has a HDMI connection or the component connections. I did not want to use component cables vs HDMI as I know the HDMI to DVI would normally provide a better picture and sound. Appreciate feedback.
