In November on 2011, I purchased a Samsung PN64D7000 Plasma TV as part of a new HT setup. One very specific thing I wanted to do was to hookup a HTPC to the TV, to play games and watch online content. So, when I hooked up the PC (HDMI connection), things kinda looked alright... although I wasn't impressed by the overall picture quality... kinda glassy looking... weird. Anyway, at some point, I started noticing dark bands on each side of Windows I was moving around. Then, I found a way to easily see those bands:
If you get a white background (e.g. blank Word Document) on the screen and overlay a dark Window (e.g. Steam Game Window), you can clearly see dark bands extending on each side of the dark window... through the entire width of the screen!! The dark bands just extend the dark window and move along with it, when the Window is displaced.
Now, even though I clearly notice those bands through my PC, I can notice them on my Digital Box while looking at the Menu, for instance. They're just more visible on my PC because things don't always more and you can fully control the environment.
So I placed a service call to Samsung... They first replaced my Screen and the Main board... still an issue... then, the replaced the entire TV... with the wrong model!! But here's the thing... the issue was on the different Model as well! Anyway, now... they have replaced THAT TV with the right model... and of course, the problem persists... Even though this has been going on since November... I can't criticize Samsung for not trying... But the problem is still there... and I don't know what else to do, at this point... I wish I could just return the damn thing!
One last thing... I don't know if this is normal, but when looking at the built-in Scrolling test, the vertical bars flicker as they move from Right to Left. Doesn't look normal... but I'm not sure.
Anybody else noticing this??
P.S. Yes... I hooked up a totally different PC, using a different Cable and connected to a different Port... same thing.
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
