Samsung PC Share Manager Setup Issues

Jan 2, 2009 9:27AM PST

I am having a few issues setting up the share manager.

I have downloaded the latest version of both the software and the firmware (Samsung 46" Series 7 LCD) and have tried installing it on various computers. But for a bit of background:

I have a Windows 2003 Server which has all the media for the various computers around the house. I have the server up and running OK, but it seems that none of my media wants to play on the display. Sharing a 1TB archive of video fails to show anything at all, sharing a single folder with a number of video in it (which I have confirmed working via USB) still shows nothing.

I did read in another thread that these formats are supported:

but all three aspects have to match...

Am I correct in saying that for the PC Share manager to pass the file to the TV over the network the resolution must be exactly as listed, but via USB it can be anything?? (that would make sense for what I am seeing ie file plays over USB but not network).

I know Windows 2003 isn't supported, so I tried a few other options.

Running on Vista Ultimate x64 or Windows XP SP3 comes up with the same issue... it seems you cannot add a network drive to the share manager... unless there is some way to force the manage to accept network drives? (although I would guess I'm going to end up in the same position anyway).

Streaming to Samsung TV
Jun 29, 2009 3:05PM PDT

I have found that Windows Home Server will stream to my Samsung LA46A950 LCD tv fine (as long as I have the right video format!! - a long series of trials & errors!!)

No extra software installed on WHS - just turn streaming on - I also notice that my wife's Vista Laptop shows in the DLNA list as well so I guess any Windows machine with Media player set up to stream will work??

Samsung PC share Manager Issues
Aug 11, 2009 5:08AM PDT

Hi I run a server 2003 with quite some content.
No problem of starting the content at all.
So I guess the resolution thing you're mentioning doesn't apply.

My problem is that after a few minutes the LE55B650 gives a connection broken message.
It does it with every single streamd file.
