Question

Samsung pc resolution on lcd

Mar 12, 2015 3:00AM PDT

Hello I have a Samsung LN52A540 52 inch 1080p lcd, My problem is when i have my pc hooked up to it for some reason i only get a top resolution of 1600x1200 and not the 1920x1080 that is a supported computer resolutions. http://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-ln52a540/specs/

Im currently running a nvidia gtx 770 all updated drivers. I have tried to force the resolution but keep getting mode not supported. I am using vga to tv with a dvi to vga adapter. this should not be the issue being the resolution says its compatible with vga.
Has anyone come up with this issue or found a solution?

Answer
So no "native"?

"Native resolution 1920 x 1080"

But you are using VGA so there's refresh and scan rates to consider. As there are no standard controls on PCs for that I can only note it and pause here.

Supported computer resolutions 1024 x 768 (XGA), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1360 x 768, 1600 x 1200 (UXGA), 1920 x 1080, 640 x 350, 640 x 480 (VGA), 720 x 400, 800 x 600 (SVGA) are all the supported resolutions i have tried various different refresh rates still no luck

Each of the non-native would result in issues.

I fear you'll have to learn why we don't use other than native. As to rates, there's no way for me to tell you exactly where those are set.

I'd forget VGA and go back to HDMI.
