SAMSUNG PANEL on InFocus TD40P has shadows

Mar 22, 2009 7:26AM PDT

Hi,
I have 3 years old LCD InFocus TD40P unit with Samsung panel. There are some darker areas, shadows,in vertical direction. Most visible on blue or gray back ground.Looks like a drapery on the window. Is that from the backlight problem or comes from the LCD panel or what?Looks like dirty.
The position of shadows is unchanged in all modes, pics e.t.c.
Any idea?

woodware,

I'm not sure what you mean. It only shows up in dark areas?

Could it be some sort of burn-in or image retention?

Hi,
Thks for prompt reply.
The shadows are always there. They are more intense visible if there is a black screeen,or blue one.If I increase the contrast, they lose in strenght. On white screen almost invisible.

woodware,

Well, from what it sounds like, it might be image retention. Did you own the panel since it was new, or run static content on the panel for any prolonged period of time?

woodware,

Static Images are images on the screen that don't move. If the picture doesn't move, then sometimes outlines can appear from bright images.

From your description, the panel may have displayed a picture of draperies that were on the screen for long periods of time without movement.

Hi,
I,ve read that there is a software that can improve the situation if it runs for several hours. Is that true?
THKS.

woodware,

We have that technology built into our plasmas, but not our LCDs - primarily because image retention is rare on an LCD.

You might check with InFocus to see if they offer a solution like that. As far as I know, we don't.
