Samsung P3 mp3 player won't play just one song and stop....

Jan 16, 2011 2:16PM PST

Hi,

I'm new to mp3 players, so pardon my ignorance.

I've added approximately 65 mp3 songs to the "Songs" section under the "MUSIC" icon.

I want to select just one of the songs... have it play that song... and then STOP.

Then, if I choose, scroll through the list of songs and select another tune to play... and the STOP ... until I choose another.

However, when I open "Songs" and select a tune to play, when the song ends, it automatically begins playing the next song in the list.

After searching and searching, I found the "PLAY MODE" menu, which gives you the following options:

1.Normal
2.Repeat
3.Repeat One
4.Shuffle

After sellecting "Normal"... it still automatically selects the next tune and begins playing it. Sad

Selecting "Repeat One" (which one might expect to mean "Repeat/Play Once)... it, again automatically begins playing the next tune.

How do I prevent the Samsung P3 from automatically playing the next tune in the list, when I want it to play in just once... STOP... and allow ME to select the next tune I wish to hear.

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can give me.

You are not alone

Many MP3 player designs don't allow you to play just one song once if many songs are available. For example, on my Zune HD for me to play only one song (without doing anything heroic) out of the entire catalog that's stored on the device it would have to be the only song from the artist or specific album that was uploaded to the device. Then I could access it via the Zune HD's interface by searching for it by Artist then by Album; that would ignore the rest of the music content stored on the device. But if there were multiple songs uploaded off that same album, then the only way I could play that same song once and ONLY that song is to put that song into a newly created, one-song playlist, then play the playlist.

Thank you.

make_or_break,

Thanks for your suggestion.

As I mentioned, I'm a complete novice to mp3 players, as the Samsung P3 is my very first.

I was wondering if I was importing the tunes correctly, as I had SO MANY choices for selecting where to place them:

1. Artists
2. Albums
3. Songs
4. Genres
5. Playlists
6. Recorded Files
7. Music Browser

So... do you have a suggestion of how to/where to place each tune so that it plays just once?

Do I have to call each "tune" an "Album" ?

Samsung needs to revise their P3 software so that there is the option to play a tune "Just Once".

Thanks.
