Question

Samsung Model LN40C540F2F IR Senser?

Mar 6, 2016 12:33PM PST

My Samsung TV is acting strange. I would turn it on, then it seems like the remote control is being used to do many commands like volume up and down, the menu commands, changing video input, turning off TV etc. I have removed the batteries from the remote control but it still happens. I opened the tv removed the IR Senser Board and cleaned it then replaced it! Same thing happens. I can no longer watch this tv because it shuts off all the time. What I need to know (I already have an idea) is does the IR Senser Board have to be replaced? Is there any other way to fix this?

Thanks!

Clarification Request
I take it you do your own TV repairs.

There are so many posts about button boards in all makes and models that I'd see if the button or button board can be unplugged. Many priors so I'll pause here.

Samsung IR Senser Board
Mar 6, 2016 4:15PM PST

I thought about it, but after I looked at the tv after it was opened if the IR Senser board was unplugged then I could not turn the tv on as this board had both the buttons from the front of the tv and the IR Senser.

From what I saw there are 2 boards in play.

I'd change the cheaper one first. That is the ir+button board then the board that connects to.

IR Senser Problem Fixed!
Mar 9, 2016 4:00PM PST

Just fixed the IR Senser Board problem. I opened the TV and unsoldered the IR eye that was on the board. Now the tv runs normal just can not use the remote control only the buttons in the front!!

Yeah!! I am happy now!

Who knows if the sensor was the glitch or some IR source but that's going to fix it.
Don't know about that stock photo site when it comes to solder work.

Hope they have a health plan covering burns.
