Samsung ML 1210 possible to fix?

Dec 21, 2009 3:25AM PST

Long story short, I'd love to resurrect my old Samsung 1210 ML, which was a terrific little b/w printer with a low per page cost. Had to quit using it when the roller that picks up and advances each sheet of paper began slipping and eventually refused to grab the paper at all. So I bought a Canon Pixma 530, which has been a loser for me. I want to go back to the simplicity and usefulness of the Samsung. Could that roller be repaired cost-effectively? Would I be able to find a driver for it for Vista OS? If not, any suggestions for a similar simple, economical (per page) printer??? Thanks for your help!

Samsung printer issue

If you are really lucky it could be that the roller(s) are glazed, go to a box store and find some laser printer cleaning sheets, do a run through or two with the cleaning sheets and see if that helps it is worth a shot. If not and the rollers need replacing, it could be pricey. Good luck!

HI
I have that same problem. Did that person's advise work for you or did you have to get the rollers repaired and if so how much did that cost? Thanks

Known good cleaning methods

The simple fix is to use plain soap and water on a damp cloth to clean those roller. Don't use alcohol as that will dry or harden over time the rollers which become worst. If you can find it, a product called "rubber rejuvenator" or similar is fanastic stuff to clean those rollers. However, be careful with it as it attacks plastic quite easily. Google for that product and its found at bigger office supply centers, etc..
