Samsung LN52A750 - DLNA (Sorting) and Removing TV Component

Aug 31, 2009 6:38AM PDT

I have a Samsung LN52A750 (LCD). I have two issues:

1) First issue - I have been using the DLNA features for quite some time. Connected to a computer network and sharing multiple folders containing music, pictures, movies, etc.. I just upgraded the version of PC Share Manager from 1.4 to 2.1 and I was hoping that it had added a 'random' or 'shuffle' feature as all you can do right now is sort by folder, file name, and artist and I want to have it play a mix or shuffle. I hate listening to the same music in the same order day after day or seeing picutres displayed one after another in the same fasion. No random mixing or shuffling is offered. Unless I am missing something can someone tell me if this is an option.
MODS-Can someone please look into adding this feature? Would it be an upgrade to the TV software or the PC share manager or both?

2) Second Issue - When viewing or changing the list of components/sources (TV, Comp1, Comp2, etc..) that you can choose (if they are active), Does the TV component/source always have to show up or can you remove it? I've tried everything to get rid of it, like removing all of the stations, running setup, etc.. but the TV component is always there. This is just a nuesience because I will never use this as I have cable and use either the TV's HDMI input, or Component cables and I will never use the coax (TV) input. Please let me know if you know of anyway that you can remove this from the source/component list? My son loves to hit the channel button using the TV remote and sends it to the TV component that nothing is hooked up to (screen turns to snow). I've since hidden the tv remote but it happens when he or my wife forget to hit the cable remote button back to work the cable box and changes the channels and then they don't know how to get back to the cable (I have it setup using HDMI right now).
MODS - any chance on having a fix for this or finding a way to remove it from the source screen since it's not being used

Samsung LN52A750 - DLNA (Sorting) and Removing TV Component

joseph_st_onge,

1. I'm surprised that 2.1 works for the LN52A750. In some cases, playing some content may cause issues. 1.4 is the latest version available for the 2008 products. I can definitely add the shuffle feature as a suggestion and pass it up, but unfortunately, I don't have any part in the decision making of those implementations.

2. There is no way to turn off the TV source. To do so would be disabling the tuner feature, and this just isn't something that the menu can toggle. In the new 2009 models, the PC input is always on as is the tuner, so both of those options even this year cannot be turned off.

It's not a solution, but I hope it at least explains why. And again, I'll be happy to send that shuffle feature request on up. Happy

PC Manager Shuffle, YES Please ADD!! & Version Question

Thanks Samsung HD Tech!

I, along with a ton of other people, would be really happy to see something like shuffle added.

Also, why would you think PC manager 2.1 would not work with my LN52A750? Is there some formats that will not play now or an incompatibility that will cause an error?

What are the differences between the 1.4 version and the 2.1 version?

PC Manager Shuffle, YES Please ADD!! & Version Question

joseph_st_onge,

The difference is that the 1.x versions are designed for 2008 models.
The 2.x versions are designed around 2009 models.

Since the 2009 models support more media formats than the 2008, it's not a recommended install for that model. But if it works for you, go with it. Don't "fix it if it's not broken".

I've added the suggestion, and will add your voice to it as well.
