Samsung LN46B750 vs LN46B750u1 - Contrast Ratio

by jskushner / December 1, 2009 5:19 AM PST

Was getting ready to buy a LN46B750 - love the 240 hz, when the sales man told me i should be getting the LN46B750U1. Streight 750 going away ....
Says the contrast ratio on the 750i is 450,000:1 vs 150,000:1.
Something about Faraudja DCDI scaler?

Please explain. Is it worth the extra $270.00

thanks.

jskushner,

I would recommend checking out this post:

We don't use the Faroudja scaler in our manufacturing, and haven't for any 2009, or 2008 product. If a television has been modified where the Faroudja chip is added, the manufacturer's warranty is voided. Additionally, the dymanic contrast ratio specifications listed on the webpage for any model containing a Faroudja scaler were not - in any way - supplied by Samsung.

I realize price is a huge factor in the purchase decision, but I would recommend considering an Authorized Samsung Internet Dealer. These are companies that have agreements with Samsung that they will conduct business professionally and ethically, while still being competitive with online prices. Interestingly, none of them that I've browsed through carry this "special" model.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
