samsung ln40a650 screen problem

Mar 10, 2009 12:56PM PDT

I have a 40in 650 that has a blue vertical pixel line from top to bottom on left center of screen. A few months after i bought it the line appeared but disappeared. the day after the same thing happened except the line came on and off while tv on. the third day it stayed put and has not gone away at all. I read that it was something called "delamination" and that i would need to get the whole lcd panel replaced. Its still under the manufacturers warranty. I wanted to do some research about this first. does someone know which tv repair shop samsung refers people to in Austin,TX? Any others with same problem with this tv series? any info would be helpful. thanx

from what your suggesting this does appear to be an manufacturing defect you should call 800-Samsung for service.

nopal76,

Welcome to the forum.

If this isn't happening on all of the inputs, then it may be your signal (cable/sat box) that is causing the issue.

However, if it IS happening on all of the inputs, I would lean towards your assessment of the panel. I'm not sure if it's "delamination", per se, but it is under warranty and can be fixed at no cost to you under the provisions of your warranty.

But before you go through the process of having the panel replaced, see if you can isolate it to the television by trying different inputs and sources to see if that line appears there too. If it doesn't, see if a cable/sat box replacement fixes the issue.

It's possible either way, but it's much easier to replace a box than to service the television.

Keep me posted!

i don't have a cable box hooked up to the tv. its just a cable line. do you know if samsung sends its own repair people to fix tvs onsite? i have seen someone post a video of a samsung van coming over to his home to replace a lcd panel.

nopal76,

We do have a network of certified service technicians. Some are ours, others are part of the network. Both can handle these issues, regardless of what the diagnosis turns up.
