char270,
The VGA input doesn't support a 720 input through the PC input.
Here is a list of supported resolutions that include 768, but not 720:

That explains why the Mode Not Supported title appears on the screen. Sending out a 720 signal, however, can be supported by the HDMI ports.

Hi,
recently I purchased the hdfury dvi to vga adaptor for use with my samsung ln40a550 and ps3, in order to eliminate gaming lag. Now, my problem is that when using the vga input on the set, if a resolution other than 1080p is being sent from the ps3 (720p) I get a "mode not supported" message and a black screen. However, it works fine on games that play natively in 1080p. Is this a problem due to the nature of using a 1080p set with a console sending out a 720p signal, and is there any way around this problem, short of buying a new, several hundred dollar video scaler?
Thanks,
Jim
