I have the exact piece of junk model and when I registered it online 11/16/08 the e-mail confirmation said I had a free 3 month warranty extension. When I called Samsung customer service Saturday he told me I had the extra 3 months free. Good thing because my tv won't come back on. So make sure you call soon if you haven't already because it looks like you have 18 days left on your warranty.
Well here's hoping someone here may have some suggestions for me.
We have a 40" LN40A550 LCD in our bedroom that was purchased Oct 29 2008. So...just BARLEY out of warranty..of course.
Its been acting up the past few weeks, appears to be getting worse by the day. It started with randomly when you would turn the tv on the sound would be there but not picture? Just a black screen?
Now--you turn it on and it wont turn on at all..although the led is flashing. The TV itself keeps flicking on and off(no picture or sound), the remote is useless while this is happening. Then after several attempts it picks up a screen...and its distorted. Often Green, kind of snowy I guess?? And then it gives this loud screeching sound? After a few minutes, not sure if it does it on its own, or if its me messing around with it trying to turn the blasted thing off manually! It picks up the picture...and is FINE! Now...if I turn it off and then within a short period of time try and turn it back on its fine. If its hours until the next swtich on, the same thing happens??
Has anyone experienced this? If this is going to be a costly fix I can most certainly say I will never buy another Samsung again. Being only 2 months out of warranty and having to put money into a $1000.00 TV is not something I am happy about.
What are the chances I could battle this out with Samsung for them to honour the fix at this point????
BTW: we do run a satillite receiver, that I have already tried swapping that out, as well I have swapped the HDMI cables.
