Having the unit calibrated isn't necessary. In most cases, most people choose the picture setting that they like best (Standard, Movie) and then adjust the settings to their preference. (Pro-Tip: I would avoid Dynamic, since that's usually too bright of a setting for most uses).

I don't discourage calibrations, since every environment - including size of room, color of room, amount of light, etc - factors into the calibration process. Video enthusiasts would consider it "a must", but for many people, setting the settings to their preference is a good solution.

C|Net also has a HDTV Picture Settings forum, where users who prefer not to have a personal calibration performed can share their "best settings" with others. I didn't see one for that specific model (sometimes the Editors post them after they perform their own dark-room calibrations), but if you'd like to start one and track the thread, you'll be notified when people respond and post their preferred settings too.
