Samsung LN26A440 and HT-Z320 Connection Question (Plus iPod)

by BrinXx / September 28, 2009 12:53 AM PDT

Hi,

I have this television already and Im looking to possibly purchase the Z320 Home Theater. However, Ive been reading contradicting reports about this unit in comparison to other models. I hope to set it up as follows (but have read that it might not work this way in this forum):

Home Theater ==> TV (via HDMI)
Cable Box/Any Component (via HDMI/OTHER) ==> TV
Optical Audio Out (TV) ==> Optical Audio In (Home Theater)

The TV has Dolby Digital audio decoding. So it should be able to process any audio coming from it into 5.1 Surround. In addition, with this setup and with DOLBY PRO LOGIC II w/ MATRIX turned ON, wouldnt any audio being fed through the TV (via HDMI/Other) come through the speakers (in surround sound) if the receiver's input was set to Digital In (via Optical Audio)?

So that means, I can hook up a game console, cable box, external blu-ray to the tv and expect surround sound so long as the receiver is set to the Digital Input?

ALSO, this home theater has an iPod dock, but Samsung seems to lock it from being able to use the functions. I want to use my iPhone in this dock and stream music from Pandora/AOL Radio or any other app..as well as receive calls and messages when its in the dock... is there any way to disable the lock feature so u want have to be forced into using the on screen menu?? (I'm aware you can use the AUX input to feed audio to the HT, but then my phone wouldnt be charging, while its streaming music)

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
