Samsung LN-T4671F LCD-Very thin horizontal black line! HELP!

Nov 24, 2009 1:44AM PST

Greetings!

My Samsung LN-T4671F LCD was bought new 1/2008 (naturally it's out of the warranty)...a very thin horizontal black line appears on the lower 3rd of the screen. It appears on the menu and all other inputs...no matter the source. Any suggestions as to the nature of the problem? How expensive to repair?

Is this an issue with other manufacturers or just Samsung?

This sort of sucks because we paid a lot for this set! Makes me suspicious of buying additional Samsung products????

Any help or advice is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

Chuck D

Samsung LN-T4671F LCD-Very thin horizontal black line! HELP!
Nov 24, 2009 4:45AM PST

chuckdenton,

It could be a PCB or the panel itself. Without being able to diagnose it, it's impossible to give a definitive diagnosis. You could call and have the unit inspected - if you want to do that, you can fill out the online form here:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/online/supportOnlineServiceRequest.do

Or call 800-SAMSUNG.

I wish I could help further - has someone in the forums had a similar symptom?

exaxt same scenario with LNT4671

Dear Samsung HD tech- I bought the same model, same month, same problem. The 3rd party tech samsung sent is coming out next week. Has samsung had a lot of these show up? Any idea what the problem is that I can tell the tech? Also, my problem intermittantly goes away, but then comes back

I have the same problem since last six months...
Mar 15, 2010 1:01PM PDT

I thought i was the only one having this issue. I baught the tv in 1/2008 myself and a patch of lines started coming six months back 4 inches from the top. the patch was at least 6 inches. i had to wait for some time and it would go away.

Now the situation is that its all over the screen and i have to wait for the picture to come somewhat clean as it is scrambled in the beginning. The horizontal line patches are over and is very annoying.

Its obviously out of warranty and samsung repair center says it will charge $250 just to come and do a diagnostic ??

I think its a manufacturing fault since so many are facing this issue. Can something be done if more customers are facing the same issue in this after this time frame ? I bought this TV for $2800 and after 2 years i get this... not happy with Samsung's quality at all.

Any suggestions to fix would be helpful...

LN-T4061F black lines
Oct 25, 2010 8:56AM PDT

As many countless threads I see on these forums about black lines, power problems, etc, I swear that Samsung_HD-Tech has been giving almost the same answer verbatim on almost every post for the past year or so.

I'm still waiting to find a thread where instead of denying what is known to exist that he actually supplies more of an answer that just "we don't know, call tech support" when the issue is happening to a majority of TV's past their warranty period. My LN-T4061F included. I just replaced the caps today, so my powering on issue is fixed, but now I've still got black lines to deal with,

I have the same problem!

We have 46" LCD bought around the same time for close to $2000. Horizontal black lines appear and disapear in the upper right hand side of the screen. Started hapening after owning it for 2 years (give or take). Samsung online help told me it is an out of warrenty issue and I would have to pay to have it serviced. I have talked to several people and researched this issue on the web and it is a common problem. Everything I am reading and hearing about the problem indicates the panel needs to be replaced. This will cost more than buying the same TV new. I am very upset and am making it a point to share my bad experiance with as many poeple as I can. Hopefully Samsung will do something to make this right.

Unlike the bad caps and RPTV chip.

I hate to say it but this is likely to not end well. That is, I don't see the endemic issue of the big 2 items.

And if you wanted more help, follow the examples in this forum. New post, just the facts, the TRANSACTION number and no rants.
