Question

Samsung LED TV - Wireless Keyboard Range Issue

Aug 30, 2016 7:38AM PDT

Hi. I have a Samsung 32" LED TV. I just bought a chines Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Both works fine on my PC and the range is also working fine.

However, when I connect it to the LED TV, it only works if I am standing below the LED. If I move back to my bed, it will not work.

Can any one explain, why it is working fine on the Laptop but not on the LED. Why the range on the LED is restricted?

What is "chines"?

I wonder if this is the usual USB adapter model. That is, the USB transceiver is usually on the back of the TV and the the screen has a plate of metal that will not help with distance at the front.

Did you get some USB extension cable so the transceiver is in the clear?

I am using USB extension

I have connected a USB hub and the HUB is on the Wall. I can see the Hub. But still the range is very restricted. It will not work If I am far away. However, on the Laptop it works perfectly fine.

A hub may not work.

Here I use a simple USB extension cable. Your best bet is one of those 6 or 10 foot (2 to 3 meter) USB extension cables with no hub and put the transceiver closer to where it needs to be.

I didn't write it but I see nothing wrong here. Many of these only have a 3 foot range.

LogiTech

USB Extension is one possible solution but I am just wondering why it works fine on the Laptop and not on the LED TV.

Should I buy a LogiTech mouse and keyboard for longer range?

Are you using that hub on the laptop?

It's going to affect performance.

And let me be blunt here. You can ask "Why?" over and over but here I like to go with what I find to help or work. There are folk that want to know why some USB hub does this. I find is sufficient it could.

Tried with all Ports and Hub
Aug 30, 2016 9:28AM PDT

On laptop I am not using the USB Hub. Just plugged in directly in the USB Port.

On the LED TV I tried with all the 3 available USB ports (2.0x2 and 3.0x1) and then via the USB Hub. But it will not work when I am far away.

I understand the USB extension solution is the only workable one now, but just wanted to see if someone have any idea about why the range is restricted on the LED TV.

Thanks for your help R.Proffitt.

I offered two reasons so far and failed to reach you.

Good luck in your studies on this.
