Samsung LED TV series 56 - remove TV icon from interface?

Feb 22, 2015 6:22AM PST

Hi, just purchased a Samsung LED TV 56 serie (5203 then another number below: 6203) and when setting up, I stupidly had it search for a channel source, unnecessarily. I am using Wi Fi only. No cable, no antenna. Now my home screen interface on Smart TV mode has an ugly TV icon (top left) with snow fuzz. It is constant and makes for a very ugly/unfriendly interface. How do I get rid of this?

Factory re set?

Thanks R.Proffitt. I thought I had tried that in the mix, but the reset options may not have been as robust as a factory reset. Will go in and have another look at that - thanks for sharing that.

Re set failed to fix the issue

Chose Tools/Reset/input default pin (0000), device informed was re setting. Once completed: all my (so far) chosen apps returned.

Is there a different way into a factory re set? Other than via tools, I wonder?

Time for Samsung.

Samsung has a remote reset only they can do. I'm still a little amazed they did that. Call in and ask how.
