Samsung LED TV panel issues

Aug 6, 2013 10:05PM PDT

Hi,

Facing problem with my Samsung LED TV (UA40D5500). Screen has black lines on top half portion . Its only 18 months old.Now panel has to be replaced. Cost of repair as per Samsung service center is 40% of the original TV cost.

This is really absurd. They should manufacture high quality and durable products. Not something which wont make it past their 2nd birthday.

Cost cutting race has led to use of cheaper components and early failures. Gone are the days when TVs were a longterm asset.

Regards,
Akhil

Thoughts. Sorry I have no say on this.

1. Register your set at samsung.com. In the USA that gets you 3 more months warranty. Yes, I know. Keep going.

2. Now call it in and ask for a one time extension. I have no say about this abut if you keep your cool you might get lucky. Sorry but this is just something to try.

Your use of the word durable is odd here. I know it's English but the definition says something about lasting even when the owner is hard on the product. But today's gear is plastic and would never stand up to such wear. I would not use the word durable in reference to most electronics today.

Samsung LED TV panel issues

I have a 47 inch Samsung LED tv. The Samsung TV 's have a problem with the panels. I brought mine to 2 different authorized repair shops and they verified that the panels and the conducting glue used to connect components fail easily. SONY is having the same problem.
Samsung will not authorize a repair because the cost is so high. The only hope we have is a class action lawsuit.

Samsung LED TV panel

My Samsung Un46D6900 LED 3D S panel also just broke after I had it only 18 months! I had paid for extra protection through BEST BUY but they tell me the part is no longer available - so they can't fix it! After 18 months!!!

I'd say there's a lawsuit in this too.

Read the agreement to see

Every agreement I've read has some clause about lack of parts. Hopefully it's better than one I ran into a few years ago. But most do a replacement since no one would buy a warranty that well, let me share what the one I ran into wrote.

"If the cost of repairs exceed the value or this contract, the warranty may be ended by refunding the warranty purchase."

In other words if I paid 100 for the warranty and the repair was over that they could opt out. That went to the ripoff site.

Samsung Led Panel failure
Oct 1, 2016 5:35AM PDT

My Samsung TV UA46H7000AR (smart + 3D) high value have got LED panel vertical line problem after 18 months.. Suddenly happened. This is ridiculous after purchasing so much high end configuration TV seems parts which they use is substandard. Yes gone are the days when TV were a long term asset. I have called up Samsung engineer and after checking got informed its a LED panel issue. Cost of replacement of LED panel is 60% of the total TV cost. Samsung have so much name in market we believe always we get value for money but now seems it is not the brand value. My friend took unbranded ( Hisense) running so well since last two years and the quality of picture and sound is also a very nice and clear. I do agree it's an electronic gadget we can't say but when we pay so much high value for the product it should give us service for longer time. I am very upset and no choice to dump this TV in garbage due to high cost repair. I think most of the Samsung product is giving trouble after 18 months.... is that so...?? Samsung has to see this very serious if they don't want to loose the credibility in market.
