If the problem is with the cable provider's remote, I'm not sure how we can affect the operation. You might try moving the sensor to a different area to see if you're able to use it away from the TV.
1. The cable box and remote have pre-assigned code banks. It varies on which models support which peripherals. I can't even speak to which models of cable/sat boxes work with Samsung products.
2. You'd have to ask them. But moving the sensor away from electronics may help, if you're able to do so.
3. You might consider a Logitech Harmony to control all of your devices with one remote. I can't speak on how sensitive they are, or what distance is covered.
4. I don't know. Perhaps some of our forum members and install expert members can speak to that better than me.
Samsung LED TV, Model 6400RF & Comcast Remote control
by evorsatz - 9/27/10 5:27 PM
I have a new Samsung LED TV, Model 6400RF. I am have a Grey Motorola Comcast Box, Model # DCH70, mounted on the wall behind the TV and then a plug-in infrared sensor that goes from the Comcast box & I have placed on the top of the TV. With my old TV I could clearly use my Comcast Remote control across the room. Now it is hit or miss. Usually I wind up getting up & moving closer to make it work. My questions are as follows:
1 - Is there a way to program the Samsung Remote BN59-01042A for the TV, to work my Comcast cable box?
2- Is there a way to make the Comcast Remote more sensitive. (Yes, I have changed the batteries!)
3- Any other ideas?
4- Is there a better quality infrared sensor to plug into the cable box that will pick up the remote's signal?
I would greatly appreciate any help, anyone can send my way. I called Comcast & they told me it was a Samsung Problem & Samsung told me it was a Comcast problem!!!!!
