Question

Samsung LED TV "mode not supported" HDMI problems

Aug 26, 2016 2:57PM PDT

Hi folks,

I'm hoping you could help me - this is driving me crazy.

I have a Samsung 32" LED TV (LE32C530F1W). I've had it for five or six years. It has three HDMI inputs, which I'm using for a PS3, Virgin TiVo box, and a PC.

It's all of a sudden said "Mode Not Supported. The resolution is not supported on this TV. Please change the resolution" for each HDMI source. Googling and the Samsung site have both said things like try adjusting your 480i signal to a 480p one, but it's really weird how all three HDMI sources have returned a "Mode Not Supported" error at the same time.

I've tried switched everything off and on again, in all possible combinations. I've switched cables. Updated the firmware (it was on the latest version anyway). Did a factory reset. Nothing works.

Any ideas? Or do I bite the bullet and get myself a new TV?

Since all failed at once

You need to take it to a shop or friend's house for the last test.

32 inch models are cheaper than a repair counter so that's why they are rarely repaired.

This last test

Thanks for the swift reply.

So, this last test, is it just to get somebody else to plug their HDMI device into it and see if that works?

I don't want to be this guy.

So yes, that's the last test before a repair counter or other.

It's not totally dead in some cases. The component/composite/VGA ports may work so it might live on as a PC display.

Oh, that guy? Pick from this.
