Samsung LE40B658 got DTS with last firmware

by exzrael / November 9, 2009 12:23 AM PST

I updated my Samsung LE40B658 LCD-TV with the latest firmware (ver.T-CHL7DEUC-2005.0, released 2009-10-30) and now I can play mkv-files with DTS-sound in the multimedia-player thats built-in.

A very appreciated feature and since Samsung doesn't provide changelogs for the firmwares I would really like to know what else has been changed.

Can anyone provide any answers?

Are you sure you can play DTS Sounds?
I have a 50PSB650 with the latest T-CHL7DEUC v2005.0 firmware and unfortunately can't read MKV with DTS sounds, even from a USB key.

Is there a problem on this TV?
Thanks

Are you sure? I am wondering if this firmware can update my LA46B750. Is there any risk to update fireware from different region website? For exp, my LA46B750 is bought in China, I download firmware for LA46B750 from samsung.com/hk, can i update it without any risk?

panzer008,

I can't confirm features for non-U.S. products, fellas. Unfortunately I just don't have an answer outside of what the website posts.

efishocean,

Best case scenario - it could work.

Worst case scenario - it could break your TV and will void your warranty.

It's a risk I do not recommend taking.

Hi there, Are you sure you got DTS to decode from the latest firmware? Have you tried various MKV files with DTS to see if they all play? I have the UE46b7000 and also have the latest firmware and it doest decode DTS in my MKV's. What country are you from, Denmark? Thanks, Regards from Greece!

Faulty assumtion that DTS work on Samsung tv's
by exzrael / November 15, 2009 4:26 AM PST
In reply to: DTS

I'm sorry if I got the hopes up for you guys but I can now confirm that I do not hear sound from mkv-files using DTS. Apparently the update made a file working correctly which was not playable before (donno how or why) which I assumed had DTS (which it didn't).

So, thread dead and closed perhaps?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
