Question

samsung LCD TV TROUBLESHOOTING

Jul 24, 2017 5:39PM PDT

I have a samsung LCD TV, model LNT4071FX/XAA. When I turn it on, a creeping gray screen comes across the TV. The sound is still good. Upon turning it off then on after letting the screen go completely grey, it clicks on and off a half dozen times, then the picture comes on and will run all ight with no problems. I replaced the power board thinking that could be the problem but it didn't fix it. Does anyone have an idea of what I could try next. I appreciate any help. Thank you

Sounds like power issues. Did you try a new HOLD PLEASE.

Before I continue all advice is given as you understand the lethal issue of working on almost all gear today. That and you accept this as-is and without warranty or liability by anyone.

OK, I'd try a new power supply board.

Then the boards that connect to the power board.

I do find folk get boards off Ebay and they are bad too. But the next suspects are the boards that go to the power board controls. This will be in the service manual.

Some folk try to repair without and it's guess after guess. As the manual costs about 12 bucks, I will not have such for but a few models that I was tasked to work on.

Be sure to get the service manual. It's over at samsungparts.com

With that you have checks to do with a Volt meter.

In the meantime do the usual inspection for bad caps on all boards.
If CCFL lights, those can cause weird problems. Try a power up without power to the CCFL system as a test.
