Samsung LCD LN52B750 Blank Screen

by richardcron / December 31, 2010 12:59 AM PST

The TV was about 1.5 years old, started screen would blank after 20 minutes or so, sometimes not until several hours of viewing. Only way to regain picture was to power off and back on and then usually it would be okay for another twenty min or more. Sometimes it would take several power cycles to get picture to stay on (you would see the input mode flash briefly in the upper left of screen). If the room was dark you could see that the fluorescent backlight was shutting off. Audio was always okay and acted same for any input. I had ordered a service manual and when I received it, the TV mysteriously started working fine and had for a couple months. Now it won't even power on normally. Just get audio and sometimes a brief flash of the picture and then black.

This may be good news.

If you read the Cnet Samsung forums many are reporting one time free fixes for the bad cap plague.

Which thread?

I saw several in the Samsung forum referring to older models with slightly different symptoms - clicking, etc. One or more with my symptoms replaced capacitors or the whole power supply with no fix. The closest I think spoke of replacing the backlight controller or inverters...?
Thanks for the reply.

But the idea is to call it in and hope for an out of warranty one time fix. I had hoped you would follow other folk's lead as to this. Again, make the call to 1800SAMSUNG or for your country and get that all important transaction number and post your issue in the Cnet Samsung forum if you don't get too far.

At 1.5 years that's pretty close to the edge of the stock warranty even with the (sometimes) 3 months extra you get for registering the product.

Good luck,

I removed the back cover, powered it on and was working okay. Removed power, reseated all interconnecting cables, powered on, second day still working with back cover off.

Leaving it off for at least 24 hours with power cord unplugged and then a couple tries and it usually works again for a while - days. ***?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
