You tried generic RAM sticks so try Crucial.com since they do more testing.
Hi
I have a Samsung P530 laptop. To be e more precise the NP-P530 JA02NL
I runs smoothly with 4 gb DDR3 memory.
I wanted to make it even faster so I bought to 4 gb ram modules, HYPER X
When I put them in the laptop starts fine, I am able to get into BIOS where it says that there are two 4gb RAM modules installed, so everything looks fine.
When I try to install windows x64 or Linux ( Ubuntu ) x64 the laptop freezes, reboots etc. it just doesn't want to install.
When I install x86 with 8 gb onboard everything installs fine, but ofcourse I have a limitted memory of 4gb then.
I tried to find an update for the Bios ( V08 ) but there doesn't seem to be any update at all.
The laptop is running on a Intel Core I3 and DDR3 mem so I thought it must support x64 systems.
Can anybody help me out here ?
First I thought maybe it doesn't support 8 gb, but then in the BIOS it does say gb.
Then I thought maybe the speed of the memory is to high , but if that was the case it should not install x86 should it ?
What I tried to do is: Install Windows 10 X64 with the 5gb rams onboard. This works fine. Then shutdown the laptop , put the 8 gb in and start it up again. When I do that is freezes or gives bad smiley error ( blue screen of death ) when Windows tries to start up.
Please help me out here if you can becuase I am confused now what the problem can be.
Thank you,
Tim
