Samsung LA40A550 PC Mode

Feb 3, 2009 5:13PM PST

The manual says that when I'm connecting the Samsung to a PC via HDMI that I should set the TV mode to PC. In doing so the only two available resolutions are 19:6 & 4:3. If I do not set the TV to PC mode, I can Wide Zoom and all the rest.

Can it harm the LCD when Wide Zooming from a PC signal when the TV is NOT in PC mode?

Thanks in advance.

It won't harm the LCD

It won't harm the LCD, but why would you want to do that? Setting it to Wide Zoom cuts off the top and bottom of the picture and enlarges it... generally when you're using a PC with a TV, you want it to display the signal unaltered from the computer, which is why Samsung tells you to use PC mode. But anyway, if that's what you want, it won't harm the LCD.

I've played a movie which did not fill the whole screen when set to "Just Scan". I removed the PC mode from my HDMI port 2 and used Wide zoom and voilla. Just thought I'd check to make sure I won't damage anything. Thank you very much for you feedback. Much appreciated.
