Question

Samsung KS7000 not recording.

Sep 8, 2016 11:38AM PDT

Our Samsung KS7000 is struggling to record when the tv is switched off. We set it to record a programme later in the day whilst we are at work yet it fails to record. It does it if it's only half hour or so after the tv has been turned off but any later it fails every time. At first we thought it would be the HDD going to sleep after a time so we switched to a USB flash drive however we still have the same problem. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Answer
I didn't think USB flash drives were supported.

Try another drive that does not sleep. After that, call Samsung and see if they have a fix.

Usb drive that does not sleep???
Sep 9, 2016 7:19AM PDT

Usb drives are supported provided it is fast enough. Anybody know of a usb drive that does not sleep automatically? I do not have a computer so I am therefore unable to change the settings myself.

My Toshiba Canvio Basic didn't mention sleep.

Also, all the USB drives I made myself with a case and drive don't do this.

Finally, some models have an app to change the sleep setting in the drive.
Yes, you don't have a computer but most folk have friends that do plus how you post here without one?

HDD/USB flash drive that doesn't automatically sleep!

Even though I do not have a computer I do have an iPhone and an iPad too therefore I am able to browse the internet etc. I just do not have a computer/laptop if you will.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem? I've spoken to Samsung but clearly this is an issue with the HDD going to sleep automatically, just hoping that some of you guys know of a HDD that automatically sleeps without me having to tinker with the settings.
