Samsung JU7100 TV - Nightmare issues

Jul 22, 2015 11:39AM PDT

This TV has just been a royal pain. Got it last week, first one did not work out of the box. Exchanged it with the retailer. Second one turned on, YAY! However, I am having all kinds of little glitches:

1) Remote doesn't let me open apps from the short cut. I can move to and select the app, but clicking to open it doesn't do anything. I have to go search the app, then select it like that and then open.
2) MAJOR ISSUE, the screen keeps going black. Sound still on. I checked all the eco settings, etc. Made sure I disable all the BS they put in there that doesn't work properly to begin with, and it still continues to turn the screen black. It happens after 15mins sometimes, sometime little longer, or less. There is no telling. But this is annoying, is anyone experiencing the same?

It is really sad that mfr that used to be one of the best at TV is producing such mediocre products now, with a pretty hefty price tag still. I am seriously just ready to go exchange for Sony or LG.

Any help is appreciated. Samsung customer service is USELESS!!!

May not be helpful but try

Be sure to ask Samsung how to check and update the firmware. If it's still failing and support is not sending out a repair person I think you know your next move.

Also, sometimes Samsung support forgets to tell you to factory reset the TV after that update. And even so, you want to do that reset if the firmware is up to date, just to give it a chance.

Ended up returning the TV and got a different model

I just wanted to respond. Appreciate the help, but I did try all those and nothing helped.
Then screen finally turned off and wouldn't turn back on again.

I ended up returning this TV all together and got a different model. So far no issues. But that JU7100 was quite a disappointment.
