General discussion

Samsung interface with Netflix.

Nov 6, 2010 1:45PM PDT

Curently, you have to log on to your netflix account on your pc and add movies to your que to watch them on your Samsung TV. The Samsung/Netflix interface only allows you to access the movies in your que. On my LG DVD player, the Netflix interface allows you to access anything without having to go to your PC. Frankly, it blows away the Samsung interface.

Is there anything in the works or even possible to change that interface to eliminate the need to use a PC with your TV to view netflix movies? Firmware/software upgrade?

Thanks

treble75,

It depends on the product.

Currently, Netflix has updated the interface for some of the 2010 products that allows you to browse by genre, pick recommendations and choose from your existing queue. These require the latest firmware updates for specific models, and may not be rolled out on all models. It's unknown at this time if the App owner will update this functionality for 2009 and previous models.

My model is UN55C7000. The current firmware I have is 2010/10/12_001030

treble75,

1030 is the latest firmware for your model that's available.

Try loading the Internet@TV, and let it sit for a few minutes. If no update happens, try to go into the Samsung Apps (lower left hand box) and see if any updates start. If there are any updates to current widgets, it will load them automatically and without permission - just like any other app updates.

I don't know what models the Netflix upgrade applies to, or if all will be upgraded, or when.
