Samsung HTC5500 - HDMI Audio Out setting doesn't save

Sep 25, 2010 8:45AM PDT

Hi

I have a HTC5500 and a bose surround sound system. I have hooked up my HTC5500 via hdmi to my TV and then an optical cable from the audio out on my TV to the bose reciever. When I set the HDMI audio setting to on on the HTC5500 everything works a charm. However whenever I turn the HTC5500 off the HDMI audio setting reverts back to off meaning I have to go through the setup menus everytime I watch a DVD/Blu Ray Disc. Very frustrating - especially trying to explain it to my parents each time!

ALl other settings save just not the HDMI audio setting on the HTC5500. I took it in to a Samsung repair centre and they said it was a firmware issue which they fixed but the same thing is still happening. I have not plugged in the speakers that came with the system.

Anyone have any advise?

Thanks

Same problem with Samsung
Jan 3, 2011 9:38PM PST

Hi!

I'm having the same issue with the tv I bought last week... its HDMI'd into a samsung dvd player and still no sound until I select HDMI "on"... which resets everytime I switch off.

I notice your post is a few months old already...Did you find a fix for it eventually?!

I'm going to try to install the latest firmware but if you can give me any other advice it would be appreciated!

Thanks

HTC-6600 update

Also found that this model, including other Samsung models, cannot support the update of firmware for Netflix. This older version only displays your netflix instant que from online, and not able to search, etc.

Same problem with HT-D5350

I'm having the same problem with my system. Seems like this needs to be addressed in the firmware, but Samsung doesn't really care because not many people are not using the speakers that come with the system. Very frustrating!!

Samsung support - can't be saved
Aug 1, 2013 11:55AM PDT

Hi all,

I had a chat session with Samsung support tonight about this issue, and they told me flat out that you CANNOT save this setting. The most recent firmware will not help. You have to change it each and every time...

Samsung UE43J5600+HT-D5530 no audio return channel?!
Oct 7, 2015 8:35AM PDT

To wake this thread up a bit...

I have the following hardware :

Samsung UE43J5600
Samsung HT-D5530 (2 large front 2 small back speakers)

My TV is connected on the HDMI out on the receiver to HDMI 1 on the TV.
When i go to the receiver and goto 'settings->Audio->HDMI AUDIO and set it to 'ON' i can hear the clicking sound of the popup menu my TV shows when i press 'Source' on the remote. However when i select TV it switches and gives a popup 'Disconnecting all ANYNET+ Devices' and the sound is gone. When i go back the to receiver the option 'HDMI AUDIO' is set to OFF again...

The fun thing is that when i press 'Volume+/-' i see my receiver turning the volume up/down however there's no sound.

I set both to 'Bitstream' and tried PCM and some other options.

Cable wise it's all HDMI 1.4+ and i tried 5-6 different cables.
Both the receiver and TV have the latest firmware updates.
