Resolved Question

Samsung HT-E355

Sep 18, 2012 7:54AM PDT

I've recently purchased the Samsung HT-E355 surround sound system & I've managed to set it up okay to my Samsung ps51d495a1k tv using a hdmi cable. Using the DVD player works fine with the speakers but I can not get the speakers to work with my Xbox or sky tv. I'm a newbie at this sort of stuff so can some please advise.

"How do I get my TV, Sky/ Cable, VCR, etc, sound to come out of all the speakers on my Home Theatre System?

Please connect phono leads (Red, White cables) from the AUDIO IN on the HTS to the AUDIO OUT on the TV, Sky, etc. Once connected switch the HTS onto AUX channel. (you may need to press the button more than once as there's a possibility of two connections, AUX 1, AUX 2)."

I fetched the manual from the same link and it appears to support audio return channel on page 23. BUT this is never a sure thing. I don't see any optical connections so the Red, White cables may be the only solution.

I've tried to connect it via the red & white cables but sound only comes out of the front left speaker. The home theatre system does have a arc function but when selected it says not supported

As a test, when I see that

I know to unplug the left input of the HT and plug in the source right. If no sound then I suspect the cable or the source.

I didn't find a manual or web page for the ps51d495a1k to see if it has ARC or if you need to change a setting. You should call Samsung in your country to see if the ps51d495a1k has ARC.
