Samsung HL56A650 DLP TV Won't Turn On!

by textommyboy / January 14, 2010 1:22 PM PST

My 56" DLP TV is no longer turning on. The TV was purchased on 12/8/2008 and is barely a month past the one year warranty. I registered the product online and received the free 3-month warranty extension but when I try to put in a service request it still shows "out of warranty."

Basically I turn on the TV and the lamp light will flash for a few seconds and then the standby/temp light flashes and then it cycles back to the lamp light flashing. This continues forever until I unplug the power line.

I opened up the lamp door and tried the blue switch trick holding it down and also reseating the lamp but still no luck. I just got my dad's 46" DLP TV white/black dot issue repaired and now my 56" DLP TV is acting up! Any help is greatly appreciated!

textommyboy,

I would recommend calling directly into 800-SAMSUNG and noting that you registered to qualify for the additional 3 months of warranty (which is offered in the U.S. only, for what I know).

Setting up a service with a live representative may allow us to assist you.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply HDTech! I just got a call from the local Samsung repair shop and they are coming out tomorrow between 5 and 6pm. So hopefully they'll have the parts they need to fix whatever the problem is. Luckily the repair will be covered by the free 3-month extended warranty!

Same exact thing happened to me right down to the dates. They never informed me of a three month extension, which would have covered repairs. I would like to thank samsung for the 50 lb paper weight I now own.

Register your TV online

Hey SAMsux,

Try registering your TV on Samsung.com's warranty page to see if you're eligible for the free 3-month extended warranty. I found out about that form another Samsung thread and it worked for me. I did have to mention it to the CSR when I called in and faxed them a copy of my BestBuy invoice so they know when the extended warranty would end. Keep trying and hopefully you'll get a favorable warranty repair. Good luck!
