Samsung HL-S4266W DLP intermittant right audio

Dec 2, 2008 10:06AM PST

The right speaker on my DLP set started dropping out and only the left channel will work. This is also true for the external audio out.The right channel pops on randomly and then goes off again. It is not a cable problem as it is the same with the external and internal right channel.

you will need a new main board for your tv, I would use a surround sound system and mute the tv, if you don't use the mute settings in the user menu, then you will get feedback through the speakers,

Well, let's try a few things before we go replacing boards. Happy

1. Does it happen on all inputs?
2. Are all the inputs in the back supplying audio to the television securely in?

Similar Problem
Feb 27, 2009 6:53AM PST

I have a similar problem with my Samsung 42" DLP, except the audio breaks up every few seconds continuously on both speakers. I checked other sets, so it's not a problem with the cable company. I also directed the sound to the stereo with component cables and it still does it. Is this a circuit board problem? How much trouble to fix?

RCT2000,

I don't have a definitive answer on what's wrong, therefore I don't know what is causing the symptom. Does this happen with the DVD player or game consoles? Does changing the audio settings in the cable box yield better results?

Sound Problem
Mar 2, 2009 2:36AM PST

OK, I've narrowed it down. The problem is with the HDMI somewhere. It's not the cable box or cable, because I switched both to another TV and it works fine. I also hooked up the Samsung with component cables and the sound is fine. So I can live with it this way, although it does bug me that the HDMI went bad after less than 3-1/2 years. Any ideas about what it takes to fix it?

HDMI

RCT2000,

I'm not sure why the HDMI would just quit like that. Often times, some boxes will work with other televisions due to a lack of HDCP (copy protection) technology in previous models. Before concluding that the problem is limited to the TV's HDMI ports, try another HDMI device and see if you get the same result.
