brusse10,
The television itself should be just fine. The biggest issue I've read so far is the IR issue, which can be fixed with an inverter board replacement - and even "recently manufacturered" units have been affected by this. So the date of manufacture is, in MY opinion, somewhat irrelevant. I don't have data based on those dates.
That said, if it makes you more comfortable, go with what you think would give you the least troubles. That is, if you think it's going to cause you concern, then maybe another retailer might match the price and you'll get the newly manufactured set for the same money.
I don't forsee a difference in the panel, but again, I'd rather you feel comfortable with your purchase.
Keep me posted!

I've been doing a lot of research on a tv to get and I've decided on the 850. I have a retailer I can buy it from at a good price, but the date of manufacture is 7/7/08. I've heard a lot about the hardware issues with the tv. Should I expect any issues with a tv made on that date, or should I expect it to be fine? If one on that date is expected to have an issue, I will just look to get one elsewhere.
Thanks,
Brad
