Question

Samsung GT-E1205L fails in international use

Apr 14, 2014 6:22AM PDT

I purchased this model as it was advertised as an international phone -- unlocked and capable of swapping out SIM chips in other countries. It works fine in California, but when I went to Barcelona and purchased a SIM from Orange there, it wouldn't work. The tech at Orange tried another chip from a working phone it still wouldn't work. It kept giving the message "No Network" whenever I tried to send a message or place a call. Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks

Answer
Clearly the seller lied

The phone obviously lacked the required network frequencies. Too late now, but you should have researched the model #/specifications more carefully before buying the phone. There is nothing you can do that will enable the missing frequencies. Sorry to hear about your experience, chalk it up to a learning experience.

Answer
Did you buy the $20 Amazon version?

I've loaned that one (850/1900) before to family who travelled in the US and needed T-Mo & ATT service. Decent enough little phone. It's the other version (900/1800) that work in Spain, unfortunately. I hate it when sellers do that(!) Ugh Sad.
