Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 battery problem

I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7.0 (Android)
When i plug it into the charger a little x goes through the battery symbol and says 'not charging'
What is wrong ?
How can i fix this ?
Please help !

Sorry to hear that. Are you using the original power adapter provided with the tablet? Have you tried multiple outlets?
