Resolved Question

Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9305T) - Hard drive connector to usb

May 2, 2014 6:01PM PDT

Recently my phone got ran over, but the harddrive is still fine, the whole lower part of the phone is still fine, i want to back up the data, i've removed the harddrive and i notice there's a pin connector, assuming for data transfer.

So are there any 'pin connector' to usb for a samsung galaxy s3 (I can't see how many pins it has, as they are tiny)

Basically i want a tool that plugs into a samsung s3's internal harddrive to either usb or sata.

I would rather not send it into a data company, but if it's impossible to do otherwise, i will.

Picture of motherboard.

Link to picture

In this picture there is a samsung galaxy s3 motherboard, the semi-conductor with a yellow rectangle around it is the internal storage.

On the other side of the chip there is a 40-60 pin port, although the pins are small so i couldn't count them exactly.

"That's no hard drive"

It's also not a space station (may the fourth be with you.)

OK, I don't see any user serviceable item in that picture. I wonder if you are hoping to recover data that is locked in that board. If it's still good, swap this board into a working device.

Yeah you're right, i actually started this thread before realizing where the data was stored in the phone, my mistake for calling it a hard drive Silly

The top if the chip is snapped off, which connects to the camera, not sure if that means it will cease to work entirely when put in a working device.

I was actually hoping for a method to either get data out by using the 20-30 pin port, or using the standard mini-usb by giving the chip some power, although then i realized that to access the data the phone probably needs to be on and the motherboard intact to send the drivers across, so yeah, i think it may be almost impossible with the exception of swapping it into another device (Which may or may not work, + it would be hard enough to get my hands on another exact)
And sending it in somewhere to get the data off some other way that is beyond me.

Thanks for all the help, i don't think this problem could be solved any further than it has already been!
