1. Battery (only 300 cycle rated so a year or 2 max use.)
2. Mainboard which has the port and charging circuit.
Just in a few days ago, my Samsung Pro 8.4 started charging inconsistently, and would require the ol' positioning and re-positioning to find a sweet spot. Within just a day or so of that, the positioning didn't seem to have any consistency at all, frequently going from charging to not, sometimes every few seconds. Right now, it's charging just fine next to me...earlier I was listening to an audiobook, and it kept being interrupted by the charging "da-ding" notification indicating the charge cable as being detected, but the cable was plugged in the whole time, tablet stationary. Totally inconsistent.
Things I've tried:
-Cleaned the USB port with canned air and isopropyl alcohol
-Tried different charging cables, adapters, and outlets known to work previously
-Experimented with screen rotation settings and power save settings
-Took the tablet apart and used canned air
-Installed a new USB flex cable charging port
I thought for sure that the new port would just take care of everything, but exactly the same thing is still happening from the start - might as well just have the old one in. I've tried moving it around in different directions a little with case off, to see if maybe it's a problem with the connection to the motherboard or something, but I don't see any consistencies there either.
To recap, it's not dirt or lint in my charge port/cables, it's not my cables/outlets, it's not a bent USB port pin or connector. Warranty is expired.
Is this just a....getting-old problem? I've had the tablet for two years, but I've not had an issue with it until now, and this has been sudden, not a gradual loose/tricky cable situation.
Any ideas? It's driving me crazy!
